PLAINFIELD — A driver who dragged an officer as she fled from a traffic stop last week was apprehended about six hours later when she was found hiding out in a local home and in possession of more than 160 bags of drugs, police said.

Lynn Navan, 33, of the Central Village section of town, was charged with engaging in pursuit, interfering with a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment and various motor vehicle offenses, police said Monday. Navan was arraigned Friday in state Superior Court in Danielson and remains held on $50,000 bond, according to judicial records.

On Thursday afternoon, a Plainfield police officer stopped a driver for speeding on Norwich Road. Police said the officer "became suspicious" drugs may be in the car after recognizing the driver as Navan, who was arrested in December on numerous drug charges, judicial records show.

Navan refused to identify herself or exit the car and closed the door when the officer opened it, according to police. When the officer opened the door again, police said, Navan shifted the car into drive and accelerated, dragging the officer a short distance. He was not injured in the incident.

Members of the Plainfield Police Department and the Connecticut State Police’s Troop D made additional attempts to stop the car, but terminated their pursuit “due to the reckless manner and high rate of speed in which Navan was operating,” according to police. Navan traveled into Danielson before returning to Plainfield, police said. She was last seen on Black Hill Road in Central Village.

Officers discovered Navan was hiding at a home on Gendron Road in the Moosup section of town, according to police. When officers arrived at the home, they spoke with a woman who claimed Navan was not inside and refused to consent to a search, police said.

Investigators conducted surveillance of the home and saw the woman trying to sneak Navan out of the back door and apprehended her without further incident, police said.

Police said Navan was found in possession of 166 bags of fentanyl, crack cocaine, Xanax, drug paraphernalia and “items used for the sale of illegal narcotics." More than $800 in cash was also seized as evidence, police said.

The other woman who police encountered at the home was charged with interfering with an officer and released on a promise to appear in court.
