Manchester Police DepartmentMANCHESTER — A 16-year-old boy was found Monday in possession of a loaded stolen gun on the high school campus when he was arrested in connection with an assault, police said.
The boy was charged with first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a weapon on school grounds, second-degree reckless endangerment and other offenses, Manchester Police Lt. Ryan Shea said. He was transported to Hartford Juvenile Detention Center pending a court appearance, Shea said.
On Monday afternoon, Manchester police located the boy in the parking lot of Manchester High School. Shea said police had obtained a take-into-custody order following an “extensive investigation into the assault.”
School resource officers and detectives approached the boy and attempted to detain him, according to Shea. He resisted, but was ultimately arrested, Shea said. Investigators then located a loaded Glock 26 9mm in his possession that had been reported stolen in June in Georgia, Shea said.
The original assault took place in Manchester shortly before 8 p.m. on Friday, Shea said. However, Shea did not provide details about the assault or the condition of the victim.
